Video Editing for Different Quality Versions
This is the version that will used when a webinar has been presented and must be posted the same day. It has very minimal editing. It is considered only a temporary video version to be viewable a few days, as it should be edited into 'Edited' and 'Polished' versions as described below.
The Raw Version includes:
- Bookends with logo and music added to the beginning and ending
- Title slide shown at the beginning (usually the second one in live presentation)
- Main content of the video as it was presented live, usually with no editing
- Only extreme obvious errors or incorrect information (visual & audio) should be removed
- Posted with excerpt (if available)
Before beginning editing for the 'Raw' version, read all of the notes on the Zoho Connect task card and follow special instructions given.
After editing, add notes to the Zoho Connect task card. Include the Wistia link and Discover Healing link of where the video is posted.
This version has the most amount of editing involved. The 'Edited' version should be the Media Editor's best version before it is sent for QC, editing both visual and audio. Use good judgement while editing these items. Consider the natural flow of the presentation. Sometimes it is better to leave something in rather than to remove it. The goal is to have the smoothest result.
Visual edits for the Edited Version include:
- Title slide with branded swoop logo
- Use edit suggestions from Notes taken during the live presentation
- Get specific instructions about use of webcams and placement
- Clean up all edges by masking over or cropping off (black bars on sides or top, desktop background, etc.)
- Enlarge things that are difficult to see (e.g., whiteboard drawing, session notes, etc.)
- Mask over errors (e.g., curser on screen, incorrect date, misspelled word, etc.)
- Awkward transitions switching between slides and app
- Edit out extra behaviors (e.g., drinking water, blowing nose, etc.)
- Edit out temporary information (e.g., event & sale info)
Having clean audio is important because the video will be subtitled and translated into other languages. Sometimes an error is impossible to remove, like people talking over each other.
Audio edits for the Edited Version include:
- Stuttering with repeated words
- Cough, clearing throat
- Extra words that distract (e.g., excuse me, whoops, I meant to say, etc.)
- Pause words (e.g., um, ah, and duh, er, etc.)
- Awkward pauses, transitions
- Extra background noise
- Incorrect information
- Temporary information (e.g., event & sale info)
Review all of the notes on the Zoho Connect task card and check to be sure all items necessary are edited.
The 'Edited' version of the video should be a very good version with little to no edits necessary at this point. Check everything to be sure. Do not add subtitles.
Upload the video to Wistia, confirming the excerpt is posted with the replay on the site (unless instructions indicate otherwise).
Add notes to the Zoho Connect task card. Confirm the newest Wistia link of the video is on the card. Inform the QC Manager the video is ready to review.
The QC Manager will review the 'Edited' version and if any errors are found, they will be written on a spreadsheet with the timestamps of where they occur in the video. After the review is done, the QC Manager will provide the edit spreadsheet info to the Media Editor.
The Media Editor refers to the spreadsheet and edits those last few items.
Upload the video to Wistia, replacing the 'Edited' version with the 'Polished' version.
Inform the QC Manager that the Polished Version is done and send the link.
Add notes to the Zoho Connect task card.
You are done. Great job!
