How to Translate Text on Keynote Slides
Make Copy
1. Make a copy of the keynote you wish to translate so that the original English version is left untouched.
2. Open up the keynote and click on File > Duplicate.

3. Rename the copy to identify it. (In this case, we will be translating to Japanese.)
4. Close the original and only work with the copy.
Convert Keynote to PowerPoint
1. Open the renamed Working Copy Keynote.
2. Go to File.
3. Go to Export to and choose PowerPoint.
4. Click Save.

5. Ensure the format is .pptx
6. Save the .pptx to your computer by clicking Export.

Open PowerPoint
1. You will need to use the PowerPoint version during translation.
2. Go to your Finder and open the PowerPoint file.
3. If you are missing Fonts, replace Fonts by following the prompts.
Presenter Notes
1. Open up slide 1.
2. Use View to Show Presenter Notes.

3. Click on Presenter Notes. If there are any notes, they will appear below the slide.

4. Edit the Presenter Notes so that the text that appears on the slide in English appears in that field. If there are no Presenter Notes, type in the text.

Use Deepl
1. Open the Deepl app.
2. Choose Text. Set the target language. (In this example, Japanese.)
3. From the Presenter Notes area under the slide, highlight the text to be translated.

4. Use Command cc to make it appear in Deepl in English on the left.
5. The translation will appear on the right column in Deepl.
6. Underneath the translation, click "Insert to."
7. The translation will appear in the Presenter Notes area in place of the English.
8. Copy & paste the translation one phrase at a time to replace the English on the slide. It will help to preserve formatting to paste the target language inside of the English phrase, then delete all of the English. (Delete all of the English except for the first character. Paste the translation right after the first character. Then delete the first character. This will preserve the same font, color, size.)
Fonts
Compare what you are working on to the English version of the presentation to ensure the translated version stays as close to it as possible to the original. Correct the font, size, and spacing if necessary so that everything fits well.
In this example, the original English version used the fonts Open Sans Extra Bold for the title, and Oswald Extra Light for the body. When copying, the font changed to Helvetica, so you will need to change it back to the correct font.
Highlight the area on the slide you need to change and use the settings on the right side to select the font type and pt size.
9. Repeat this process of translation and replacing the English with the target language with all of the slides. Check fonts and fix them as needed.
Save in Zoho Show
Label the finished presentation with the new target language and save it in Zoho > Work Drive > Education Team > Certification > Level 1 Emotion Code Certification > Target language abbreviation-Emotion Code Certification > Target language abbreviation-ECC Module Keynotes.
