Hiring Employees & Contractors
This procedure should be used when hiring employees and contractors. HR should always be included in any hiring practices. HR should always review all agreements/contracts from Independent Contractors and Vendors before they are hired.
- Determine the need for a new or replacement position. Think creatively about how to accomplish the work without adding staff (improve processes, eliminate work you don’t need to do, divide work differently, AI, etc).
- Develop and prioritize the key requirements needed for the position and the qualifications, traits, characteristics, and experience you seek in a candidate. Ask the assistance of HR for input. Develop a Job Description, if not already completed. This information will assist HR to post the job; and screen resultant resumes for potential candidate interviews.
- Submit to HR.
- HR will seek approval from Executive Team.
- HR will post the information internally and Marketing might be asked to send out an email to the database per HR request.
- Applicants will be led to www.discoverhealing.com/hiring.
- HR will screen resumes against the prioritized qualifications and criteria established.
- HR will schedule qualified candidates for a first interview with HR and second interview with Manager.
- Hold the interviews with each interviewer clear about their role in the interview process. Each participant should come prepared looking for culture fit, technical qualifications, customer responsiveness and knowledge.
- Determine which (if any) candidates to invite back for final interview with Jean.
- Candidates may participate in any required testing for that position.
- Human Resources checks the finalists’ credentials, references and other qualifying documents and statements, if needed.
- HR and Department Manager confer together about the selection of a candidate.
- If no candidate is superior, start again to review the candidate pool and redevelop a pool if necessary.
- If selected, HR will send out an offer letter and discuss a possible start date.
- Upon acceptance, HR will begin the on-boarding process including employee paper work.
